Toronto’s famous landmark, The Old Mill, transports its visitors from a busy urban community to a tranquil and elegant ‘Europe’. In fact, its Founder’s vision was to create a Toronto suburb as ‘a little bit of England far from England’. Its architecture, secret gardens and intimate nooks make it a very special Toronto location for both engagements and weddings.
Laura and Pedro, two kind souls full of love and life, contacted us in regards to their Toronto winter wedding in the spring of 2018. In speaking with Laura, it was clear that her connection to The Old Mill was very special to her. Both her parents and her aunt and uncle married there; making her the second generation of family weddings at the historical Toronto location. Her love for its history, her family’s history and the venue itself had us incredibly inspired to photograph there!
They decided to take advantage of the venue as the gardens and weather made for a perfect outdoor engagement session. We arranged to meet late afternoon in order to catch the beautiful autumn golden light and sunset. Right from the beginning of our session together, these two had us smiling; they were complete naturals in front of the camera! Our usual prompts and tricks for natural smiles and moments were not necessary at all! They had us laughing from the first shot to the last. They shared more of their story with us and spoke of their future plans and goals. As with all engagement sessions, we wanted them to focus on connecting with each other, without worrying about the camera. However, in the end we felt incredibly connected to the both of them; excited for more in January 2019!
