From the very first email exchange with Kristin and Nav, Junilo and I were in love with these two! You’ll see why from one of Kristin’s first e-mails introducing themselves, ‘We met in London, ON where we were both doing our medical residencies; I am a family doctor and Nav is a general internist. We met in the emergency department one night when we were both on call; Nav helped me do a procedure and we clunked heads over the bed leaning over the patient - I think its adorable, and Nav thinks I'm ridiculous for telling everyone about our "meet-cute"’. We would have to agree with Kristin on the ‘adorable’ factor! After completing their residencies, they settled in the beautiful Niagara region with their Labradoodle Instagram influencer, Bailey.
One evening, soon after their move to Niagara, they were resting at home after a busy work day. Suddenly Nav went upstairs and came back with what appeared to be a ring box! Unbeknownst to Kristin, he had been collaborating with a jeweller for months to design a ring which was inspired by Kristin’s home province of Newfoundland’s flag in mind! Nav got down on one knee and proposed. Naturally Kristin was moved to tears and the answer was a huge, ‘Yes’!
In planning their wedding, they had a few ideas clear in mind: family over tradition, a huge party for their guests who would be coming from as far as Newfoundland and their love of food and wine was priority! Without sweating the small details they focused on incorporating what was important to them as they began planning their wedding. Their siblings played a huge role in their day; Kristin’s brother was a bridesperson and Nav’s sister was his ‘Best Person’. It felt so familiar and natural to have both present as Kristin and Nav got ready. There was the natural sibling banter back and forth, inside jokes shared, and even a little ukulele performance with Kristin and her brother before they left for Kristin and Nav’s first look.
The Good Earth Food and Wine winery was a special place for both of them as Nav’s best friend celebrated his engagement dinner there. It was also the first event Nav took Kristin to! They were smitten with the naturally surroundings and incredible award-winning food and wine. With the help of their Wedding Planner, Fête Events, they planned an unforgettable summer wedding party! Despite early morning showers, the skies cleared and the temperature rose. The wedding ceremony under the huge oak tree included handwritten vows by Kristin & Nav which expressed their promises to one another. It ended with celebratory cheers from their guests and a group photo with everyone present. After a custom menu planned by The Good Earth’s Chef and Kristin and heartfelt speeches by their wedding party and families, it was time to party! Their wedding band, Sandy Vine and the Midnights, had everyone up on the dance floor with their renditions of both classic and modern popular hits!
We finished the evening completely sweaty and deliriously happy for having spent the day laughing, cheering and most of all, knowing people like Kristin and Nav.
